Jones Going for Gold in the 50M Freestyle

LONDON - Former Wolfpack standout Cullen Jones will be going for gold at the 2012 Olympics, when he swims in the 50M freestyle final on Friday. The race is slated to start at 3:09 p.m. ET.
Jones posted a time of 21.54 seconds in the semifinals, tying Brazil's Cesar Cielo for the fastest time in the event. The Wolfpack product shaved .41 seconds off his preliminary time with his semifinal clocking. In the prelims, Jones took second his heat with a time of 21.95 to reach the semifinals.
Jones has already garnered a silver medal at the Games as a member of the 4x100M freestyle relay. He swam the relay's third leg, posting a 100M split of 47.60 seconds.
