Mumma Finishes Seventh on One-Meter Springboard at US National Championship

IOWA CITY, Iowa - NC State junior Rachel Mumma of the swimming and diving team posted a seventh-place finish in the one-meter springboard competition at the AT&T United States National Championships.
Mumma totaled a score of 243.55 on her list of five dives in the finals to finish seventh overall in the event. Her highest-scoring dive of the finals came on her fourth attempt, where she totaled a 58.50 on a forward 2 ½ somersault with a 2.6 degree of difficulty from the pike position.
A product of Harrisburg, Pa., Mumma earned her way into the finals by finishing seventh in the preliminary rounds with a 258.30 total score.
Mumma enjoyed a successful 2012-13 campaign, advancing to the NCAA Diving Championships on the one-meter springboard. She also recorded the top individual score for the Pack in the event, tallying a 308.02 total score against North Carolina.
Junior Charles Retter and redshirt senior Chris Arcara will be in competition Friday, Aug. 16 in the men's three-meter synchronized diving, as the AT&T US National Championships continue through Sunday, Aug. 18.
