Swimming & Diving Volunteers at Swim Across America Event
Sept. 22, 2013
RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State swimming & diving team was able to volunteer in the Swim Across America initiative on Saturday hosted at the Willis R. Casey Aquatic Center. The event saw current and former athletes, friends and family come together in the cause to raise money for cancer research throughout the afternoon.
A portion of the proceeds from the event will be going to the lab of NC State's Dr. Cavanagh, who has been conducting research on molecules that could make current chemotherapy regimes up to 1000 times more effective.
Swim Across America, Inc., is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising money and awareness for cancer research by hosting open water and pool swims throughout the United States. The organization was founded in 1987 and the money raised supports world-renowned hospitals, laboratories and clinics. To learn more about Swim Across America, click here.
