    RALEIGH, N.C. The NC State women’s swimming and diving team will open the 2007-08 season this Saturday, Oct. 20, in Greenville, N.C., against East Carolina and William & Mary. Action is slated to begin at 12 noon. The Pirates enter the meet at 1-0 on the young season after topping Davidson, while the Tribe stands at 0-1 following a loss to Towson.

    State will look for its 17 juniors and sophomores to step up following the loss of Lindsay Barwegan and All-ACC performer Kerry Whitson. Two seniors, Leeann Laing and Natalie Swisher, will begin their farewell seasons in the red and white as one of the most talented freshmen classes in program history begins its journey into collegiate competition.

    Following this Saturday’s action, the Pack will return to the pool next Friday, Oct. 26, with its first home meet. State will take on Duke and Campbell at the Casey Aquatics Center at 5 p.m.
