Men's Swimming & Diving Enters National Rankings
Oct. 24, 2012
RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State men's swimming & diving team ranked 14th nationally in the latest poll released by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).
The rankings are released biweekly throughout the season and are voted on by nine CSCAA-member coaches and one media member.
The Wolfpack garnered the national ranking after strong showings at the All-NC Invitational and dual meet against USC.
In the season-opening event, the Pack recorded first place finishes in multiple events, including the 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke, 200 freestyle and 400 medley relay, to mention a few. Junior Barrett Miesfeld posted the second-best time in program history in the 100 butterfly at the meet against USC, just tenths shy of his 47.32 mark set last season.
State was joined in the rankings by two other teams from the ACC, including Florida State (15th) and North Carolina (9th), while the Florida Gators received the top-ranking. The complete rankings can be viewed by clicking HERE.
NC State will return to action Nov. 2 against East Carolina at 5 p.m., when it hosts the first home meet of the season. The women's team will compete against the Louisiana State University Tigers on Friday, Oct. 27 at 3 p.m. ET in Baton Rouge, La.
