Oct. 26, 2012
RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State women’s swimming & diving team will compete in its first dual meet of the season when it travels to Louisiana State University. The meet is slated to get underway on Saturday, Oct. 27, at 2 p.m. ET.
"We're looking forward to racing against the LSU Tigers," said head coach Braden Holloway. "They're a strong team in a very tough conference, so we're excited to see where we are."
The women’s team is making just its second appearance of the season after debuting at the All-NC Invitational. The Wolfpack finished first at the invitational, collecting several first place finishes en route to garnering the top-spot in the final point standings.
The Pack dominated the relay events, finishing first in the 200, 400 freestyle relays and 200-medley relay, while collecting second in the 400-medley relay. State would be just as dominant in the individual events as well, leading all scores in the 100, 200, and 1650 freestyles, the 100 backstroke, 200 butterfly and 200 individual medley.
In diving, Hannah Hopkins and Rachel Mumma recorded excellent scores to lead the one-meter and three-meter events. Mumma was rewarded for her efforts at the invitational in being named the ACC Female Diver of the Week. The Wolfpack sophomore finished first on the one-meter diving board and second in the three-meter, finishing just behind fellow Wolfpacker Hannah Hopkins.
The LSU Tigers enter the meet 1-1, after opening the season with a win against Vanderbilt and falling to the Auburn Tigers in its most recent outing.
The meet will feature the standard 16-event order. Results and a full recap will be posted to GoPack.com at the conclusion of the meet.
