Linkenauger, Smith Nearly Break School Records at GT Invite
ATLANTA, Ga. Anna Linkenauger and Erica Smith nearly broke school records on the first day of the Georgia Tech Invite on Friday, Nov. 16 in Atlanta, Ga. The Pack enjoyed strong performances overall, as multiple individuals either broke or came close to setting new school records, or hit potential qualifiers for NCAA action. Both NC State swimming and diving teams stand in the top-5 of the their respective fields following competition. The Wolfpack men rank third overall with 194 points, while the women place fifth on the strength of 133 points.
Andrew Lester finished fourth with a 4:27.64 in the 500-free. Dan Glauber, Travis Martinez, Brian Crowder and Mason McGee were sixth with a 1:24.13 in the 200-freestyle relay, and Kevin Woodhull-Smith, Jack Roney, Taylor Goodwin and Glauber used a 3:27.51 to place seventh in 400-medley relay. Alex Dambly (15 points) took forth in the 3-meter dive, while Austin Hampton (6) and Scott Blackwelder (1) finished 11th and 16th respectively.
Action will resume tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 17. The preliminaries will begin at 9:30 a.m., while the final round kicks off at 5:30 p.m. Click here for live stats throughout the entire event.
