Chris Coleman is entering his sixth season with the NC State track and field team. Coleman, a former NCAA Division II All-American at St. Augustine's College and a member of the Division II Hall of Fame, coaches the Wolfpack's long, triple and high jumpers.

The 2012 season saw Coleman produce a NCAA East Regional qualifier in Karimah Shepherd, who earned a bid to the competition in both the long jump and triple jump. Shepherd, who also qualified for the NCAA East Regional in 2011, earned All-ACC accolades after finishing third in the long jump at the 2011-12 ACC Indoor Championships.

In 2010, Lawson had another stellar season under Coleman, achieving All-ACC honors in the indoor high jump for the second consecutive year, as well as provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Indoor Championships. During the outdoor season, Lawson tied for first place at the NCAA East Regional meet, advancing to the NCAA Championships. Coleman also helped Kristopher Kornegay-Gober achieve All-ACC honors in the high jump during both the indoor and outdoor seasons.

In 2009, Coleman coached Lamont Savage (indoor long jump) and Kayla Lawson (indoor high jump) to All-ACC honors and Savage was an outdoor NCAA regional qualifier.

In his second year, Adams and Washington furthered their success, with Adams winning the long jump at ACC Indoors, earning All-America honors, qualifying for the NCAA Championships and competing in the U.S. Olympic Trials. Washington won the long jump title at the 2008 ACC Indoor Championships and was a national qualifier. She also holds the school record.

In his first year with the Pack (2007), Coleman coached men's ACC outdoor champion and national qualifier Dexter Adams (long jump) and regional qualifier DeMiracle Washington on the women's team. Last year's indoor team produced All-ACC high-jumper Kris Kornegay-Gober.

Coleman was a long jumper and triple jumper for Division II powerhouse St. Augustine's College.

While at St. Augustine's, he won the indoor and outdoor national championship in the triple jump in 1995 with a personal best jump of 53' 07". He was also conference champion and conference MVP in 1994 and 1995. Coleman was a member of two indoor national championship teams in 1992 and 1995 and four outdoor national championships in 1992, 1993, 1994 and 1995. Coleman was a staggering 14-time All-American in the long and triple jump.

Upon graduation in 1996, he became an assistant jump coach for Coach George Williams at St. Augustine's College. He has coached several collegiate All-Americans and national champions in the jumps. He has also coached several high school and youth All-Americans.

Coleman is the founder and head coach of the Carolina Allstars Youth Track & Field Team in Fuquay-Varina, N.C. He is a native of Fuquay-Varina and now resides in Raleigh with his wife Tameika, and daughters Takira and Jordyn.
