Henry Wins Weight Throw for 2nd Time This Season
Jan. 20, 2012 Day 1 Results BLACKSBURG, Va. - NC State senior Lawanda Henry of Dunn, N.C., won the 20-pound weight throw on Friday night in the first day of competition at the Hokie Invitational indoor track meet at Virginia Tech's Rector Field House. Her throw of 60-feet, 1-½ inches is her second best mark of the season and gave the Wolfpack standout her second win in three meets this season. Last weekend, at the Virginia Tech Invitational, Henry finished second with her best throw of the year, 61-feet, 4 ¾-inches. Teammate Kortney Pearce of Willow Spring, N.C., was fourth in the event. In the men's 35-pound weight throw, NC State's Nathaniel Williams was seventh, followed by senior Grant Pearce at eighth and redshirt freshman Jule Rich in 11th. Freshman Rueben Malone of Lillington, N.C., was fourth in the triple jump, with a mark of 50-feet, ½-inch. Teammate Kwame Boatwright of Durham, N.C., was fifth and freshman Carl Marant of Raleigh was seventh. The Wolfpack will continue its participation in the meet, beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
