FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - NC State senior jumper Karimah Shepherd was part of the Wolfpack contingent participating in the first day of the 2013 NCAA Indoor Championships Friday evening at the Randal Tyson Track Center at the University of Arkansas.

Making her first NCAA Championship appearance, Shepherd, leaped 19' 0.75 in the long jump for a 14th-place finish, earning her second team All-America honors.

The Chesapeake, Va., native, who qualified for both women's horizontal jumping events, will compete again Saturday in the triple jump.

Redshirt senior Ryan Hill ran in the men's mile run preliminaries and raced to a second-place finish in 3:58.91 - just four-tenths of a second behind Arizona's Lawi Lalang who was first to cross the finish line.

Hill will compete in the finals Saturday, while senior Kris Kornegay-Gober begins competition in the men's high jump.
