March 9, 2013
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – NC State redshirt senior Ryan Hill earned his eighth All-America award, highlighting the final day of the 2013 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships at the University of Arkansas.
Hill raced to a second-place finish in the men’s mile run with a time of 3:55.25. The mark was his second best in the event – only behind his 3:54.89 clocking at the Millrose Games on Feb. 16. Hill was less than one second behind Arizona’s Lawi Lalang (3:54.74) who took first place.
The Hickory, N.C., native also finished 11th in the men’s 3,000-meter run after crossing the finish line in 8:00.44 and earning second-team All-America honors in that event. Hill’s six total track All-America awards are the second-most by a men’s track & field athlete in NC State history.
Competing in the men’s high jump, senior Kris Kornegay-Gober earned second-team All-America honors with a 7’ 2.50” leap and placed 11th in the event.
Senior Karimah Shepherd, who competed in the women’s long jump on Friday evening, soared 42’ 4.00” and placed 10th in the women’s triple jump. Shepherd finished the weekend with two second-team All-America awards.
NC State will begin its outdoor season next weekend, Mar. 14-16, at the 49er Classic in Charlotte, N.C.
