CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The NC State track & field team completed the second day of the 49er Classic Friday evening on the Irwin Belk Track at UNC Charlotte.

Redshirt sophomore Tremanisha Taylor collected her first victory of the outdoor season in the women's discus with a 166' 4.00" throw, while redshirt freshman Nicole Chavis took second place in the women's hammer throw with a 178' 2.00" heave.

Competing in the women's heptathlon, redshirt freshman Jazmyne Childs placed seventh with 4,002 total points. Childs' best performances came in the shot put where she finished fifth (31' 10.00") and in the high jump where she ranked sixth (4' 11.75").

Three Wolfpack throwers competed in the men's hammer throw, where redshirt junior Nathaniel Williams placed seventh with a 177' 9.00" heave. Redshirt sophomore Jule Rich recorded a personal-best in the event with a 174-foot toss, which ranked ninth overall.

NC State will conclude competition at the 49er Classic, Saturday, Mar. 16.
