April 7, 2012
RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State junior All-American Andie Cozzarelli posted the best time of her career in the 10,000-meter run on Saturday at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif., in one of several standout performances Wolfpack athletes had at three different collegiate track and field meets on Saturday. Cozzarelli, who was 13th at last year's NCAA Championships in the 10K, finished 23rd in a strong field of collegiate and post-collegiate competition and posted a career-mark of 33:26.45, taking more than 25 seconds off her previous best and posting the eighth fastest time in school history. In other events, for the second consecutive week, NC State sophomore Nathaniel Williams won the men's discus throw, topping a large field of competitors at the Duke Invitational at Wallace Wade Stadium with a throw of 178-feet, 8-inches. The Wolfpack women also threw well, as senior Brittany Hampton was second in the women's discus throw and redshirt freshman Tremanisha Taylor was third. At the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla., junior Kris Kornegay-Gober tied for third in the men's high jump. Next week, in its final warmup before the ACC Championships in Charlottesville, Va., on April 19-21, the Wolfpack will compete at the UNC Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C.
