    RALEIGH, N.C. - Five first-place finishes and three personal-best results highlighted the annual Wolfpack Last Chance Qualifier for the NC State track and field team on Friday at Paul Derr Track.

    All told, 35 Wolfpack student-athletes took part in the final outdoor regular season event of the year with their sights set on achieving final qualifying marks for the NCAA East Regional. State will now await qualifying bids for the Regional, which will be held May 29-31 in Jacksonville, Fla.

    The Wolfpack got things started off strong in the long jump, notching a pair of first place finishes courtesy of Jonathan Addison and Alexis Perry. Addison's jump of 24'02.50" (7.38m) was the best jump by nearly two feet amongst the men, while Perry's leap of 20'09.25" put her in first in the outdoor long jump for the third time this year. Amara Bell, also competing in the women's long jump, finished in sixth after registering a distance of 18'01.75" (5.53m).

    In the men's 100m dash, Addison led a trio of Wolfpack runners with a time of 10.60, good enough for fifth place, while Cameron Cooper (11.08) and William Taylor-Haynes (11.21) finished 10th and 11th, respectively.

    In the women's 100m, Paisley Simmons recorded a third-place finish with a result of 11.86, while J'den Williams came in fifth at 12.26.


     

     

    In the men's 110m hurdles, Taylor-Haynes (14.41) and Josh Gandy (15.97) finished in third place and fifth place, while Perry took first in the women's 100m hurdles with a time of 13.32.

    On the field, Elizabeth Shuman took first in the women's high jump, clearing the bar at a height of 5'07.25" (1.71m), while Nathaniel Williams took first in the men's discus with a throw of 179'0" - his second best mark of the year. Jule Rich, also competing in discus, took sixth place after a heave of 156'1".

    In women's discus, SeQuoia Watkins (157'11"), Nicole Chavis (153'8") and Alyssa Dunn (134'5") took second, third and fifth, respectively. Bell finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 37'04.00" (11.38m) to close out the competition in the field events for the Pack.

    Brian Davis (48.50) and Will Krehnbrink (48.67) finished in third and fifth, respectively in the men's 400m, while Denae Ford (56.65) an Sharese Roberts (57.46) finished in 11th and 13th place, respectively. Wolfpack freshman Tiana Patillo took sixth place with a time of 55.84 competing unattached in the event.

    In the women's 200m, Ford (25.44) and Roberts (25.49) registered a 10th and 11th place showing for the Pack. In the men's 1,500m, Michael Mansy took 15th place with a time of 3:50.88, while Sam Roberson registered a 19th place result at 3:53.25. Adrian Ross (3:55.47) and Matt Schick (4:00.36) ended in 25th and 26th, while Sebastian Hanson (3:49.00) and Jacob Thomson (3:50.37) finished 11th and 14th running unattached.

    A personal-best time of 4:24.03 by Erin Mercer led five NC State runners in the women's 1,500m. Mercer's second-place finish was just ahead of Samantha George (4:23.94) who came in third running unattached. Megan Moye (4:27.23) and Joanna Thompson (4:28.37) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, while Samantha Norman (4:37.43) and Esther Fisher (4:39.02) ended in 13th place and 15th place.

    In the men's 800m, Vibushan Sivakumaran registered a fifth place finish after running a time of 1:50.57, while Clay Jones found himself in 14th place after running 1:55.49. In the women's 800m, Ryanna Henderson ran a personal-best of 2:08.82 to grab second place.

    Cooper led a trio of Wolfpack runners in the men's 200m with a seventh place finish after a result of 22.22, while Davis (22.35) and Krehnbrink (22.69) ended in eighth place and 12th place.

    Matt Sonnenfeldt blew away the field in the men's 5,000m, recording a time of 14:05.84 to finish in first place by almost 32 seconds, while Olivia Enright, competing in the women's 3,000m steeplechase, took third with a time of 10:55.71.

    In the final event of the day, the mixed 10,000m Halsey Merritt registered a time 34:53.42, setting a new personal-best in the event by nearly two minutes. Erika Kemp (35:32.21) and Alexa Harvey (35:39.35) also competed in the event, finishing in fourth and fifth, respectively behind Merritt who took third.
