    Hokie Invitational Meet Schedule

RALEIGH, N.C. - After a six-week hiatus between meets, the NC State track & field team will return to action this Friday and Saturday, Jan. 18-19, when it competes at the Hokie Invitational in Blacksburg, Va., as well as the Dick Taylor Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C.

A portion of the team will make the short trip north to Virginia Tech, while a group of distance runners and throwers will compete at North Carolina.

The Wolfpack opened the season at the JDL Fast Track Kick-Off in Winston-Salem, N.C., back on Dec. 1, where senior Kris Kornegay-Gober broke his own school record in the high jump, en route to a first place finish in the high jump with a 7' 4.25" leap. The jump topped his record-breaking performance at last year's ACC Indoor Championships, where he recorded a 7' 3.75" jump.

Among other first-place performances on the men's side, redshirt junior and 2012 All-America selection Nathaniel Williams won the men's weight throw with a 59' 7.5" toss. Redshirt freshman Graham Crawford won the mile run with a time of 4:16.

The women's team also made a great first impression to start the season with several top finishes, including senior Karimah Shepherd who won the triple jump with a 40' 5.5" leap. A trio of Wolfpack high jumpers comprised of senior Danielle Adams, junior Elizabeth Shuman and sophomore Caitlynn Filla swept the top three spots in that event.

In the throws, redshirt sophomore Tremanisha Taylor, an All-ACC performer in 2012, was victorious in the shot put, while redshirt freshmen Nicole Chavis and  SeQuoia Watkins posted a 1-2 finish for the Pack in the weight throw.

Freshman Alexis Perry won the 60m hurdles with an 8.42 clocking in her first collegiate meet.

Less than a week later, on Dec. 7, a small group of distance runners competed at the Hoosier Open, where redshirt senior and seven-time All-American Ryan Hill jumpstarted his final indoor campaign with a victory in the 5,000m invitational run.
