RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State track & field team will send competitors to three different locations this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 8-9, as the team approaches the championship portion of the indoor season. Members of the Wolfpack will compete at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., the Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash., and the Virginia Tech Elite Meet in Blacksburg, Va.

NC State will send its jumpers and throwers to Fayetteville, a small group of distance runners to Seattle and a mix of sprinters, distance and middle-distance runners will compete at Virginia Tech.

The Pack received a lift at last weekend's Hilton Garden Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C., where freshman Alexis Perry was victorious in the women's pentathlon. The Durham, N.C., native won the 60-meter hurdles with an 8.54 clocking, before taking the top spot in the long jump with a 19' 1.25" leap. Perry also finished third in the high jump, eighth in the shot put and 10th in the 800-meter run.

In the throws, redshirt freshman Nicole Chavis won the women's weight throw for the second time this season with a 59' 9.75" throw, recording her second-best performance in that event this season. Redshirt sophomore Tremanisha Taylor took the top spot in the women's shot put with a season-best 51' 7.00" heave.

In just her second appearance of the season, junior Kenyetta Iyevbele won the women's mile run with a time of 4:53.61 - just three-tenths of a second ahead of senior Andie Cozzarelli who finished with a 4:53.93. Sophomore Joanna Thompson placed fourth in the race with a 4:54.60, while senior Erin Mercer, running unattached, notched a fifth-place finish in 5:01.11.

Wolfpack jumpers took three of the top four spots in the women's high jump, where junior Elizabeth Shuman won with a 5' 10.00" leap, senior Danielle Adams and sophomore Caitlynn Filla placed second and fourth, respectively with 5' 6.00" jumps. In the men's high jump, freshman Jonathan Addison shared first place with a 6' 9.75" hop over the horizontal bar.
