    Track Records Seven NCAA Regional Marks

    Raleigh, N.C. - The NC State track and field squads competed in their second outdoor meet of the season this weekend, taking part at the Wake Forest Open. In all, the Wolfpack notched seven NCAA Regional qualifying marks, and won two events on the weekend.

    The men's side totaled six NCAA regional marks on the weekend, and took home top honors in both the shot put and the steeplechase. The Wolfpack took the top-three spots in the steeplechase, with all time qualifying for the NCAA Regionals. Tibor Vegh took top honors in 8:57.15, followed by John Martinez in second (8:59.06) and Bryce Ruiz in third (9:06.55). Mitchell Pope won the Pack's second event, recording top honors in the shot put with a top heave of 62'01". Pope also recorded a NCAA Regional mark in the hammer (184'05"), while Chris Crawford was ninth (181'00").

    Martinez was also the Pack's top finisher in the 1,5000 meters, as he was fourth in 3:54.01. Also in that race, Chris Kollar was sixth (3:54.42) and Ruiz was eighth (3:54.87). Kollar also placed sixth in the 800 meters in 1:52.90. In the 5,000 meters, it was Fredy Torres in fourth (14:48.80) and Robert Bedsole in fifth (14:52.80).

    In the jumps, Dexter Adams recorded a second place showing in the long jump with a top jump of 24'02.25". Michael Hill was eighth in the triple jump (48'09"). In the sprints, Kevin Hutton was 10th in the 200 meters (21.61) and 12th in the 400 hurdles (53.68), while Omar Wells placed 11th in the 100 meters (10.73).

    On the women's side, senior Kristina Roth notched a NCAA Regional time in the steeplechase. Roth finished second in that race with her time of 10:41.31. Also in that race, Kara McKenna was sixth in 11:07.35. In the 800 meters, Jemissa Hess just missed her own regional time, when she placed fourth with a time of 2:10.26. Ann Wheatley was third in the 5,000 meters (17:21.36), and Joya Rodgers was 12th in the 100 meters (11.95). In the field events, DeMiracle Washington brought home a pair of top-10 finishes, as she was sixth in the triple jump (38'07.50") and seventh in the high jump (5'03").
