NC State Hosts 2013 ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships

RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State track & field team will begin the championship portion of its outdoor campaign when it hosts the 2013 ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Apr. 17-20, at the Paul H. Derr Track.
Fans can follow the action on all three days via live video streaming on theACC.com. Coverage is scheduled for 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, 5-8:30 p.m. on Friday, and 4-8 p.m. on Saturday. Admission for all three days of competition is free of charge.
The 2013 championships will be held at NC State for the ninth time overall, and the first since the 2003 season. The Wolfpack men's team won the ACC crown on its home track when it hosted the event in 1985.
NC State owns some of the top marks and times in the conference this season across the board, including Nathaniel Williams' 56.63m mark in the men's discus, which tops all throwers in the league. Redshirt sophomore Tremanisha Taylor ranks second in the ACC in the women's discus at 51.56 meters, while redshirt freshman SeQuoia Watkins is third at 50.88 meters.
In the jumps, Junior Lacey Shuman is tied for second in the ACC in the women's high jump at 1.80 meters, while senior Kris Kornegay-Gober is tied for the third-best mark in the league in the men's high jump with a 2.16-meter leap. Senior Karimah Shepherd owns the conference's second-best long jump on the season with a 6.28-meter measurement.
In the distance runs, redshirt senior Andie Cozzarelli owns the second-fastest mark in the conference in the women's 10,000-meter run with a 33:47.5 mark, while sophomore Joanna Thompson ranks third at 33:52.6.
