Taylor Named ACC Women's Performer of the Week
April 29, 2014
GREENSBORO, N.C. - NC State redshirt junior Tremanisha Taylor has been recognized as the Atlantic Coast Conference women's Outdoor Track and Field Performer of the Week as announced by the ACC office on Tuesday.
Taylor successfully defended her title at the 120th Penn Relays last weekend, establishing a new NC State outdoor school record in the women's shot put with a throw of 57'09.00" (17.60m). Taylor's record-setting heave, which at the time stood as the top mark in the NCAA in women's outdoor shot put this year, is the ninth-best all-time at the Penn Relays - the oldest and largest track and field competition in the United States.
The following day after setting the new NC State school-record and NCAA leading mark in the shot put, Taylor finished second in the women's discus with a throw of 176'4" on day two of the Penn Relays at Franklin Field. She currently ranks 12th in the nation in the discus after a school-record throw of 179'00" at the Raleigh Relays earlier this year.
