Wolfpack Track & Field to Compete in Duke Twilight Meet
May 4, 2012 2012 Men's Outdoor Performance RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State men's and women's track teams will send select athletes to the Duke Twilight Meet on Sunday at Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham, N.C. Field events will begin at 2 p.m., while running events will begin at 5 p.m. in the meet, which will have a record number of participants and several Olympic hopefuls in the field. Among the Wolfpack participants are All-ACC discus throwers Nathaniel Williams, a redshirt freshman, and Brittany Hampton, a senior. All-ACC redshirt freshman Tremanisha Taylor, coming off her record-breaking performance in the discus last weekend at The Penn Relays, will also compete in both the shot put and the discus. School-record holder Lawanda Henry will compete in the shot put. The Pack will also send several of its sprint and mid-distance runners to compete, including senior Paige Eley in the 100- and 200-meter dashes and senior Taylor Graham in the 100m hurdles. Sunday's meet is the next-to-last weekend of competition for the Wolfpack prior to the NCAA Regional preliminaries, which will be held May 24-26 in Jacksonville, Fla. Next weekend, NC State will host the Wolfpack Final Qualifier at Derr Track. All who are competing in the final two meets are looking for times and marks that will qualify them for the NCAA Regionals. Among those close to NCAA qualifying times who will compete this weekend are senior Danielle Adams in the high jump, junior Greg Dame in the 1,500 meters and Halsey Merritt in the 10,000 meters.
