Pack Track & Field Heads to NCAA East Regional

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State track & field team will send twenty-one athletes to compete in the 2013 NCAA East Regional this Thursday through Saturday, May 23-25 at the Irwin Belk Track on the campus of North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro, N.C.
The top 12 finishers in each individual and relay event will qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., June 5-8.
Redshirt Senior Brian Himelright, a 2013 All-ACC performer, owns the region’s second-fastest men’s steeplechase time this season – an 8:38.96 clip he recorded at Stanford’s Payton Jordan Invitational on April 28. The time is also the fourth-best in the nation this season. Redshirt junior Andrew Colley recorded the region’s third-fastest 5,000-meter time of 13:45.69 at the same meet.
Redshirt senior Ryan Hill holds a season-best time of 3:42.24 in the men’s 1,500-meter race, while freshman Graham Crawford owns a top mark of 3:43.30 in the event this season. Hill’s clocking stands seventh in the region, while Crawford is listed 11th overall.
Senior Andie Cozzarelli ranks ninth regionally in the women’s 10,000-meter run (33:47.46) and 11th in the 5,000-meter race (16:03.82).
Redshirt sophomore Tremanisha Taylor owns the ninth-best measurement in the region in the women’s shot put at 53’ 5.50” (16.29m), while redshirt freshman SeQuoia Watkins ranks 10th in the women’s discus at 172’ 9.00” (52.65m).
