Track & Field Gears Up for NCAA Regionals
RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State men's and women's track and field will head to NCAA Regionals in Greensboro, N.C. as the outdoor season of 2009 winds to a close. The Wolfpack will send five men and six women to NCAA Regionals.
Leading the way for the women will be Angelina Blackmon, Lawanda Henry and Brittany Tinsley who each have a top-25 mark nationally in their respective event.
Blackmon is 14th nationally in the 800m with a school record time of 2:05.78, a time that also ranks third in the ACC currently.
Henry is 17th nationally in the shot put with the top time in the ACC this season and the best mark ever for a Wolfpack thrower. She is also 41st in the nation in the hammer throw with another school record and the sixth best mark in the ACC in 2009.
Tinsley is 25th in the 10,000m and 51st in the 5,000m in the nation, ranking second in the 10k and fourth in the 5k in the ACC.
For the men, Bobby Moldovan, Jason Jones and A'Tolani Akinkuotu will lead the charge with each having a national mark that ranks in the top-50.
Moldovan is 28th in the 5,000m with the third-best mark in the ACC.
Jones has the 34th-best shot put mark in the country and ranks in the top-10 in the ACC heading into regionals.
Akinkuotu has been out with an injury for most of the outdoor season, but still ranks 47th in the country in the 100m.
