June 14, 2013
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior jumper Karimah Shepherd was named the 2013 Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Field Performer of the Year, the league office announced on Friday.
The award caps a banner year for Shepherd, who concluded her final collegiate season with four All-America nods (two indoor and two outdoor), while also earning Women’s Field MVP honors during the ACC Indoor Championships in February.
Shepherd ended her final outdoor season by earning a pair of All-America honors at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore. The Chesapeake, Va., native placed seventh in the long jump with a distance of 20’ 8.00” to receive first-team recognition, and her distance of 43’ 1.00” in the triple jump was good for 13th place and second-team honors.
On June 3, Shepherd was also named the 2013 South Region Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year, completing a sweep of the award after receiving the same accolade for her performance during the indoor season.
