    Track & Field Lands 8 on All-ACC Academic Teams
     
     
    Raleigh, N.C. Five members of the NC State men’s track and field team and three members from the women’s squad were named to the All-ACC Academic Teams in their respective sports announce Friday by Commissioner John D. Swafford. The five men named were John Crews, Stephen Furst, Chris Kollar, Wesley Smith and Tibor Vegh. For the women, Jemissa Hess, Kayla Lawson and Kristina Roth were all honored.

    John Crews, Jr., Mechanical Engineering Brought home a pair of top-10 finishes at the Indoor ACC Championships ... Finished fourth in the 5,000 meters, and was also ninth in the 3,000 meters ... Finished 17th in the 5,000 meters during the outdoor season at the NCAA Regionals ... Took 10th in that event at the Outdoor ACC Championships.

    Stephen Furst, Jr., Aerospace Engineering Placed seventh at the Indoor ACC Championships in the mile ... Also brought home a 12th place showing in the 3,000 meters ... Was fifth in the 5,000 meters at the Outdoor ACC Championships.

    Chris Kollar, Jr., Biological Sciences Earned All-ACC honors during the outdoor season in the 1,500 meters as he finished third at the ACC Championships ... Advanced to the NCAA Regionals in that event as took 15th ... Did not compete during the indoor season.

    Wesley Smith, Jr., Economics Earned All-ACC honors with a second place finish in the 5,000 meters at the Indoor ACC Championshps ... Finished 17th at the Outdoor NCAA Championships in the 5,000 meters, after finishing ninth at the NCAA Regionals ... Also earned All-ACC honors during the outdoor season, placing second in the 10,000 meters.

    Tibor Vegh, Jr., Economics Advanced to the NCAA Championships for the first time, placing 20th in the steeplechase during the outdoor season ... Finished fifth at the NCAA Regionals to advance ... Earned All-ACC honors with his third place finish in the 5,000 meters at the Outdoor ACC Championships ... Also finished fourth in the steeplechase in that meet ... Placed 13th during the indoor season in the 3,000 meters at the ACC Championships.

    Jemissa Hess, Sr., Art Applications Hess finished 15th at the Indoor NCAA Championships in the mile ... She earned All-ACC honors during the indoor season with her third place finish in the mile at the ACC Championships ... During the outdoor season, she placed 15th at the NCAA Regionals in the 1,500 meters ... Brought home two top-five finishes at the Outdoor ACC Championships, placing fourth in the 1,500 meters and fifth in the 800 meters.

    Kayla Lawson, Fr., Biological Sciences Finished eight at the Indoor ACC Championships with a season-best mark of 5’04.25” in the high jump ... Improved to fifth place at the Outdoor ACC Championships in the high jump, clearing 5’05”.

    Kristina Roth, Sr., Art Applications Finished seventh at the Indoor ACC Championships in the 5,000 meters, and was also 15th in the 3,000 meters at the same meet ... Earned All-ACC honors in the steeplechase during the outdoor season, with a third place showing at the ACC Championships ... Also took seventh in the 5,000 meters at the ACCs.
