NEW ORLEANS – Five members of the NC State track and field team were named to USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field team, as announced by the organization.
The men’s team was represented by Andrew Colley, Brian Himelright, and Jule Rich. Colley earned recognition for the fourth year in a row, Himelright for the third straight season and Rich for the second time in as many years. The women’s team listed Joanna Thompson and Alexis Perry, who each earned her first mention on the team.
Colley, a redshirt junior, earned second-team All-America honors in the men’s 5,000 meters with a 12th-place showing at the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Championships and was also named to the All-ACC Academic Team for the second time in three years.
Himelright tallied almost every academic achievement award possible in his final outdoor season, as he was named a recipient of a 2013 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship and was placed on the All-ACC Academic Team for the third straight season.
In just his second season of competition, Rich received ACC All-Academic Team recognition for the second straight year on the outdoor circuit, while also being tabbed to the same squad during the first two indoor seasons in which he competed.
Thompson, a sophomore from Knoxville, Tenn., has been listed on the All-ACC Academic Teams for the indoor and outdoor seasons two times each. She earned her first All-America award in the women’s 10,000-meters with an 11th-place performance at the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
