Hill Takes 10th in 5,000 Meters at Track and Field World Championships

MOSCOW - Former NC State track and field star Ryan Hill recorded a 10th-place finish in the men's 5,000-meter final at the 2013 IAAF Track and Field World Championships Friday evening in Russia.
Hill joined five-time Olympic gold medalist Bernard Lagat and Galen Rupp, who finished sixth (13:29.98) and eighth (13:29.87) in the race, respectively, as one of three runners representing the United States to finish in the top 10.
Hill posted a 13:32.69 mark in Friday's championship event, just six seconds behind Great Britain's Mohammed Farah who was first to cross the finish line in 13:25.98.
A Hickory, N.C., native, Hill qualified for Friday's race after clocking a time of 13:24.19 in Wednesday's qualifier.
