    Colley, Thompson Earn Cross Country All-Academic Honors

    NEW ORLEANS - NC State redshirt junior Andrew Colley and sophomore Joanna Thompsonwere named 2012 Division I All-Academic Cross Country honorees, announced by the USTFCCCA Tuesday afternoon.

    To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have either earned USTFCCCA All-America status or finished in the NCAA region’s top 15 (or top 10 percent) in 2012.

    Colley earned All-America honors for the second-straight year with a 16th-place finish (29:39.5) at the NCAA Cross Country Championships. The Williamsburg, Va., native also earned All-ACC and All-NCAA Southeast Region recognition for the third-straight season after recording third-place finishes at the ACC (23:43.6) and Regional Championship (29:39.68) meets.

    In just her second season running cross country, Thompson received both All-ACC and All-NCAA Southeast Region honors for the second-straight year. The Knoxville, Tenn., native raced to a seventh-place finish (20.28.7) at the ACC Championships, before finishing 11th at the Regional Championships (20:51.45).
