Men's Cross Country Recruiting Class Ranked No. 5 Nationally

RALEIGH, N.C – The NC State men’s cross country team has earned a No. 5 ranking by Flotrack.org for its 2013 recruiting class, according to the site’s latest recruiting rankings. One of the leading media providers for cross country and track, Flotrack also has the Wolfpack projected to finish the season No. 13 in their overall team rankings for 2013.
State welcomes a strong group of runners to its roster, including 12-time Kentucky State Champion and two-time Kentucky Gatorade Runner of the Year, Jacob Thomson (Louisville, KY), North Carolina Gatorade Runner of the Year and NCHSAA State Cross Country Champion Bakri Aboshouk (Cary, NC), Virginia AA State XC Champion Nick Link (Blacksburg, Va.) and NY Federation Champion Sebastian Hanson (Pleasant Valley, NY).
Thomson comes to Raleigh as a two-time Footlocker Finalist, finishing fifth in 2012. He was runner-up at the 2012 New Balance Outdoor Nationals for 5000 meters and is the Kentucky state record-holder in the 1600m.
As the native North Carolinian of the group, Abushouk took home the 1000m, 1600m and 3200m title at the 2013 NCHSAA Indoor State Championship earning MVP honors, while also being named as an Indoor All-American.
Link will be a welcome addition to the Wolfpack roster after placing 11th at the 2012 Nike Cross Nationals to help lead the team to a 10th place finish. He was a member of the All-American DMR squad at 2013 New Balance Indoor National and an eight-time Virginia AA All-State Performer.
Hansen, who anchored the All-American distance medley relay squad indoors and outdoors in 2012, was also the 2012 New York Federation Champion in Cross Country.
The Wolfpack opens the 2013 campaign with the Wolfpack Invitational on Sept. 20 at the WakeMed cross country course in Cary, N.C.
