Hoer and Hill Named ACC Cross Country Performers of the Week, Again

GREENSBORO, N.C. - NC State’s Ryan Hill was named the ACC Men’s Cross Country Performer of the Week on Monday. The Wolfpack’s Laura Hoer shared Women’s Performer of the Week honors with Florida State’s Amanda Winslow.
Hoer and Hill posted impressive top-five finishes in the women’s and men’s races, respectively, to pace NC State at the NCAA Cross Country Pre-Nationals, held Saturday in Terre Haute, Ind. Hoer led the Wolfpack to an eighth-place team finish in a 40-team White competition while Hill paced the men’s team to fifth place in a 36-team White team race.
Hoer, a freshman from Arden, N.C., finished fourth, running the 6k course in 20:13.2 - 5.1 seconds off of the lead. This is the third time she has won ACC honors this season. Hill, a junior from Hickory, N.C., finished second individually, running the 8k course in 23:31.7 - 11.8 seconds off of the lead. This is Hill's second ACC weekly honor in 2010.
Winslow’s individual performance keyed the second-ranked Seminoles to the team title in a 38-team Blue competition at the NCAA Cross Country Pre-Nationals. The Lawrenceville, Ga., sophomore finished seventh overall with a new personal-best 6k time of 20:32.8.
