GREENSBORO, N.C. – NC State’s Rollie Geiger, who directed the Wolfpack to its 12th ACC championship in the past 17 years, was selected the ACC Men’s Cross Country Coach of the Year on Thursday.

In a vote of the league’s 12 coaches, Geiger earned the league’s Coach of the Year award for the 13th time in his 30-year career as NC State’s head men’ cross country coach. He won the award as women’s ACC Coach of the Year 15 times before handing the women’s head coaching duties to Laurie Henes in 2006. Counting five awards as ACC Coach of the Year in track and field, Geiger has been ACC Coach of the Year 33 times.

This past Saturday, Geiger directed the Wolfpack to its second ACC men’s championship in the last three years and its 16th overall. The Pack placed five runners in the top 20, including individual champion Ryan Hill and runner-up Andrew Colley, and edged second-place Florida State by four points. Geiger-coached cross country runners have earned All-ACC honors 183 times and been named All-America on 65 occasions. NC State is currently ranked 14th in this week’s USTFCCA poll.
