GREENSBORO, N.C. - NC State's Bobby Mack was named the Atlantic Coast Conference men's cross country performer of the week on Tuesday. Mack placed second overall and first among NC State's runners at this past weekend's NCAA Southeast Regional in Clemmons, N.C. Mack, a redshirt senior, covered the 10K course in 30:17.8 and led the Wolfpack to a third-place team finish and an at-large berth in the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., on Monday, Nov. 24.
A sixth-year senior from Winston-Salem, N.C., Mack was an All-American for the Wolfpack in 2004, but missed almost all of the next three seasons while battling a succession of injuries. After an appeal to the NCAA for an additional year of eligibility, Mack was granted a sixtrh year by the NCAA and returned to action on Oct. 18 at the NCAA Pre-Nationals with a 22nd-place finish. He followed that up with a fourth-place finish at the ACC Championshhips on Nov, 1 to earn All-ACC honors. Mack's second-place finish at the regional had secured him an individual at-large bid to the NCAA Championships, but NC State earning a team at-large bid made that a moot point.
