    As a junior (2005): Finished the season strong, batting .462 (6-for-13) at the NCAA Lincoln Regional, and batting .300 (18-for-60) in the Wolfpack's 15 games following the exam break ... Hit safely in 18 of the final 21 games of the season ... Stole 16 bases to give him 40 for his career, which ranks sixth in school history ... Moved to center field following the Miami series (March 4-6) and made just one error in 117 chances for a .991 fielding percentage ... Tied for third on the team with five game-winning RBIs ... Had a team-hgh 15-game hitting streak snapped in the second game of the Duke series ... Batted .417 (25-for-60) during the streak ...     Summer league: Played for the Orleans Cardinals in the Cape Cod League in 2005 and batted .276 with six doubles, two triples, two home runs, 16 RBIs and 13 stolen bases ... Tied for second in the league in triples ... Played for Chatham of the Cape Cod League in 2004, batting .224 and playing shortstop most of the season ... Played for the Thunder Bay Border Cats of the Northwoods League in 2003, and batted .305 with nine doubles, 21 RBIs, 29 runs scored and 10 stolen bases in 40 games ... Also played five games for the Covington Lumberjacks of the Shenandoah Valley League, batting .350 (7-for-20) in five games.

    High school: A tremendous multisport athlete and one of the top middle infielders in the state in his career at South Point High School ... Earned all-conference honors as a junior and senior ... Batted .434 as a junior at South Point in 2001, and then batted .445 in American Legion action that summer ... Followed that up by hitting .389 with 17 RBIs and 13 steals in 15 attempts as a senior in 2002 ... Hit .545 in the 2002 American Legion regular season ... Went 9-for-13 in the East-West senior series at the 2002 State Games in Greensboro ... Named all-metro by The Gaston Gazette as a junior, and by The Charlotte Observer as a senior ... Also was a three-time all-conference selection in basketball, and was South Point's team MVP as a junior and senior.
