    As a freshman (2005): Saw time in the outfield, on the mound, and as a pinch-runner ... Went 3-for-5 in his first start, February 25 at The Citadel, hitting a home run and two singles, and also drove in two runs ... Had three singles, drove in a run and scored twice in five at-bats March 1 against UNC Greensboro ... Picked up two hits and scored twice in an 11-5 win March 5 at sixth-ranked Miami ... Went 3-for-5 and scored a run March 18 at Georgia Tech ... Closed the Clemson game April 23.

    Summer league: Played for Gastonia of the Coastal Plain League in 2005 ... Went 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA in nine appearances on the mound ... Drove in 13 runs as an outfielder.

    High school: Was named all-state and NCISAA North Carolina Player of the Year after a tremendous senior season ... Batted .554 with seven doubles, five triples, eight home runs and 50 RBIs in 30 games ... Had a .629 on-base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage ... Also stole 20 bases in 21 attempts ...
