    As a junior (2001): A role player who gave the Wolfpack quality work as a back-up catcher and pinch-hitter ? Batted .207 in 14 games, five of them starts ? Had two doubles and drove in a pair of runs ? Went 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored March 24 at Virginia ? Had his biggest game of the season April 18 in the Wolfpack?s 9-1 win over Old Dominion ? Went 3-for-4 vs. the Monarchs with a pair of doubles and an RBI.

    As a sophomore (2000): Saw limited action, serving mostly as a back-up catcher ? Had his two biggest moments of the season at the expense of UNC-Wilmington ? Had a pinch-hit home run in the ninth inning of the Wolfpack?s 12-0 win at UNCW on March 29 ? Started against the Seahawks on April 26 at Doak Field and went 1-for-4 with a game-winning RBI double.

    As a freshman (1999): Played in seven games, all in a reserve role ? Made three plate appearances February 21 vs. Villanova, and reached base all three times, walking twice and reaching on a single ? Redshirted as a true freshman in 1998. High school and personal: Earned first-team all-conference honors as a senior at Broughton after batting .389 ? Is the son of former Wolfpack coach Sam Esposito, a former major league infielder and the winningest coach in NC State baseball history ? Majoring in criminal justice ? Born February 16, 1979.
