A steady performer with the bat and glove. As a junior (2002): Stepped in at second base and gave NC State solid defensive play and steady, consistent offense all year long
Played in 56 games and started all 56
Was hitting over .400 as late as 28 games into the season
Had one stretch of 33 games (February 24 through April 27) during which he committed just two errors in 132 chances
Made just 11 errors all season for a .952 fielding percentage
Had a then-career-high four hits in four at-bats February 16 vs. James Madison in Charleston
Did himself one better than that six games later, February 27 vs. Appalachian State, going 5-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBIs
Went 3-for-4 with an RBI in the first game of the St. Joesphs series, and then went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs in the series finale
Went 3-for-5 with a double, a triple and an RBI May 2 at Maryland
Finished the year strong, collecting two hits in three consecutive games and batting .400 (8-for-20) the last five games of the regular season
Played during the summer for Wilson in the Coastal Plain League
Earned a spot on the CPL all-star team. Junior college: Earned all-conference honors in the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges after batting .348 with 12 doubles and 24 RBIs for Tacoma Community College
Helped lead Tacoma to a 25-19 overall record and a second-place finish in the leagues West Division
Batted .313 as a freshman at Tacoma in 2000, and was an NWAACC Gold Glove winner. High school and personal: Played two years of baseball and one year of football at Fort Vancouver High School
