RALEIGH, N.C. - No. 6 NC State baseball swept Appalachian State with a 3-1 win on Sunday at Doak Field at Dail Park. Jake Armstrong accounted for all three Wolfpack RBIs.

The Pack (6-1) extended its winning streak to six in a row, with all six wins coming since last Monday. Armstrong set a career high with three hits in a 3-for-4 game including a double, three RBIs, and a run scored on his game-winning two-run homer in the eighth.

Brad Stone ended up with a no decision after shutting out the Mountaineers (0-7) for six innings on two hits with five strikeouts and a walk. Eric Peterson (1-0) claimed the win on three innings of work, fanning six.

Brett Austin, Trea Turner, Brian Taylor, and Andrew Knizner each supplied one single on the afternoon. Austin, Jake Fincher, and Bubby Riley each stole a base. Fincher reached on a walk, marking the 69th time in the last 73 games that he has reached at least once. Riley and Logan Ratledge each scored once.

With the score tied 0-0 in the bottom of the sixth, NC State broke through on a two-out rally started by Logan Ratledge being hit by a pitch. Armstrong doubled to left center on a full count to score Ratledge from first. App State evened the score 1-1 after back-to-back singles and a sac bunt moved Jaylin Davis in range to score on a wild pitch.

State broke that tie in the eighth. Turner singled down the left field line as the leadoff, but was caught stealing during the next at-bat. Riley walked next, and stole second on a strikeout pitch for the second out. Then Armstrong stepped in and delivered a monster shot to left, pushing the Wolfpack to a 3-1 win.

NC State returns to action on Tuesday, February 25 at 4 p.m. to host Davidson at Doak Field at Dail Park. Streaming coverage will be carried by ESPN3.com. Radio duties will be handled by 88.1 WKNC. Fans can also follow along with live stats on GoPack.com, or with Twitter updates on @NCStateBaseball.
