COLLEGE PARK, Md. - No. 10 NC State baseball dropped its series finale at Maryland 5-2 on Sunday at Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium.

The Wolfpack (14-8, 3-6 ACC) fell behind in the first inning for the third-straight day, as the Terrapins (16-6, 5-4) opened up a 2-0 lead on just one hit. State answered with Logan Ratledge's solo homer in the second, before Maryland added one in the sixth and two more in the eighth. Trea Turner hit a solo shot to left in the ninth to set the final margin at 5-2.

Andrew Woeck answered the bell for NC State, called in from the bullpen with two outs in the first to deliver 4 1/3 innings of relief to tie his career long. Woeck set a career high with eight strikeouts on 19 batters faced, holding the Terrapins to one earned on three hits and two walks.

D.J. Thomas entered with nobody out and two on in the sixth, and escaped without allowing a run. Thomas fielded a bunt and nabbed the lead runner to start the inning, then induced a grounder to short and a fly to left to prevent any damage. Thomas worked one more inning and held the Terps hitless with one walk and a strikeout.

Turner finished 2-for-4 with his third homer of the year for an RBI and a run, adding one walk. Brett Austin went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles to lift his season total to four. Ratledge went 2-for-5 with a solo homer. Matt Vernon started and contributed a double. Jake Fincher and Kyle Cavanaugh provided the Pack’s only other hits.

NC State returns to action on Tuesday, March 25 at 6 p.m. with a visit to Campbell. Radio coverage will be handled by 88.1 WKNC. Fans can also follow along with live stats on GoPack.com, or on Twitter by following @NCStateBaseball.
