Joseph Ercolano broke up a scoreless tie with a two-out solo homer to right field in the top of the third inning. Corona led off the bottom of the third with a double to center field, his fourth hit in a row, and scored on Diaz's roller up the middle. Matt Camp sacrificed Diaz to second, Matt Devine walked, and Aaron Bates hit a sharp grounder off of the third-base umpire for a single to load the bases. All three runners moved up a base on Ryan Pond's sacrifice fly to left, with Diaz scoring on the play to give NC State the lead at 2-1.
McBride led off the top of the fourth with a ground-ball single through the left side of the infield, and Smith hit a one-out homer to right-center to swing the lead back to Lehigh at 3-2.
Pond led off the bottom of the sixth, singled up the middle and went to second on a wild pitch. Jake Muyco lined a one-out pinch-hit single to left to put runners on the corners, and Matt Mangini tied the game by driving in Pond with a single to right. Corona singled to left, but Muyco was out at home plate on the play for the second out of the inning. Diaz then drove a double off the wall in left-center, driving in pinch-runner Ryan Johnson and Corona to give NC State the lead at 5-3.
Devine led off the bottom of the seventh with a walk, went to second on a groundout, took third on a wild pitch and scored on Brian Aragon's double into the left-field corner, making it 6-3 in favor of the Wolfpack.
