RALEIGH, N.C. — Hunter Ridge homered and drove in three runs Wednesday, and three UNC Wilmington pitchers combined on a three-hitter to lift the Seahawks past NC State 9-1 in non-conference action at Doak Field at Dail Park.

Lefthander Kelly Seacrest (2-0) got the win for the Seahawks with a shutout inning in relief of starter Travis Bradley, who was lifted with two out in the bottom of the fifth inning. William Prince, a righthander, worked the final 3 1/3 innings for the Seahawks (18-14), striking out six and earning his first college save. Danny Healey (1-4) started and took the loss for the Wolfpack (18-16). He allowed six runs, four of them earned, on eight hits in 4 2/3 innings.

The Seahawks took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a double by Cameron Cockman and a run-scoring fielder’s choice off the bat of Ridge. UNCW then took control of the game with four second-inning runs on five hits, two of them bunts, and an error. Cockman, Ridge, Andrew Cain and Thomas Pope drove in runs in the inning. Two of the four runs were unearned.

Ridge led off the top of the fifth with a homer to right field, his sixth of the season. NC State got on the board and averted the shutout with an unearned run in the bottom of the fifth. Matt Bergquist led off and doubled into the left-field corner. Chris Diaz was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second, and Bergquist wound up on third after Brett Williams hit into a double play. John Gianis followed with a grounder that shortstop Jake Koenig booted for an error, allowing Bergquist to score.

David Shambley drove in a run with a seventh-inning infield single for UNCW, and the Seahawks added an unearned run in the top of the ninth.
