RALEIGH, N.C. - Despite a pair of homers from Trea Turner, NC State baseball dropped a 7-5 decision to Boston College on Saturday night at Doak Field at Dail Park to even its series with the Eagles.

The Wolfpack (21-16, 7-13 ACC) struck first on Chance Shepard's solo homer in the second, then rallied to take a 3-2 lead through three after Boston College (13-25, 4-16) scored a pair in the top third. The Eagles tied it 3-3 in the fourth and grabbed a 5-3 advantage in the fifth. State trimmed that margin to 5-4 on Turner's first homer of the night. BC made it 7-4 in the ninth, before Turner's second homer set the final margin at 7-5.

Turner finished 2-for-5 with three runs and two RBIs in his first multi-homer effort since March 5, 2013 at Elon. Andrew Knizner provided the Pack's only other extra-base hit, an RBI double in the third. Shepard homered and drew a walk in a 1-for-3 start at designated hitter. Logan Ratledge drove in one in a 1-for-4 night. Jake Armstrong went 1-for-2 with a walk.

Patrick Peterson (1-1) took the loss on five earned over five innings. Eric Peterson relieved him and went the rest of the way, striking out five over four innings, holding BC to two earned on three hits and two walks.

Shepard's solo shot to left made it 1-0 in the second. Trailing 2-1, the Pack rallied in the third after Turner reached with two away on a fielding error at short. Knizner followed with his double down the left field line. Ratledge singled to center to score Knizner from second and grant the Wolfpack a 3-2 advantage.

State fell behind 5-3 by the bottom fifth when Turner led off with a homer that hugged the right field foul pole. Facing a 7-4 deficit in the bottom ninth, Turner sent a towering fly over the left field fence for his second solo shot of the evening.

NC State returns to action on Sunday, April 20 at 1 p.m. for the series finale with Boston College on ESPN3. Radio coverage will be handled by 88.1 WKNC. Fans can also follow along with live stats on GoPack.com, or with Twitter updates from @NCStateBaseball.
