RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State baseball looked dominant in an 11-1 romp over Coastal Carolina on Friday at Doak Field at Dail Park, behind a career high five runs from Trea Turner and five RBIs by Andrew Knizner.

The Wolfpack (25-19) pounced on the Chanticleers (22-24) with single runs in the first and third, then ripped the game open with six in the fifth and two more in the sixth. Coastal scored its lone run in the eight on a solo homer to right. The Pack responded with one in the bottom eighth to set the final at 11-1.

NC State batted around for the 14th time this season and sixth in the month of April in the decisive six-run fifth. Turner's five runs beat his previous career high of four, set against Wagner in 2013 and matched against Elon and Duke this season. Knizner's five RBIs match the five he drove in against North Carolina A&T on March 5.

Carlos Rodon (4-7) scored the win with eight strikeouts over 6 2/3 scoreless innings, scattering five hits and two walks. In his last four starts combined, Rodon sports an 0.86 ERA and 12.06 Ks per nine innings. The junior has 42 strikeouts to 10 walks over that stretch. Rodon hits triple digits in strikeouts for the third-straight year, pushing his total for the season to 102.

Logan Ratledge went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two runs, and an RBI, one of two multi-hit performances for the Wolfpack on the evening. Knizner provided the other, going 2-for-4 with five RBIs and a run. Turner went 1-for-3 with five runs, two walks, and his 16th stolen base of the year.

Chance Shepard and Brett Austin each contributed an RBI and a run. Bubby Riley drove in the Pack's other run. Garrett Suggs scored once. Jake Fincher went 1-for-2 with a pair of walks.

Turner manufactured the game's first run by reaching on an error, stealing second, advancing to third and home on a pair of groundouts. Turner made it 2-0 in the third by legging out an infield single, advancing to second on a groundout, then scoring on Knizner's RBI single up the middle.

The momentum swung permanently in State's direction with a six-run rally in the fifth. Suggs and Turner started the inning with a pair of singles through the left side. Ratledge was hit by pitch next, allowing Knizner to drive in a pair on his single through the right side. Shepard plated Ratledge on a single up the middle to make it 5-0, then advanced with Knizner into scoring position on a wild pitch. Austin reached on a fielder's choice to shortstop to extend the lead to 6-0. Fincher walked next to reload the bases. Riley's RBI single to first stretched the lead to 7-0, and the Pack added an eighth run on a double play ball from the next batter.

Turner walked to lead off the sixth inning, and scored from first on Ratledge's RBI double to left center. Ratledge tagged up on a fly ball to left center to advance to third, and scored on a passed ball during the next at-bat to make it 10-0.

After a Coastal's solo homer in the eighth, State responded with one more for insurance. Turner walked with one away and held at third on Ratledge's double down the right field line. Knizner pushed him home on a sac fly to right center.

NC State returns to action on Saturday, May 3 at 6:30 p.m. for game two of its series with Coastal Carolina on ESPN3. Radio coverage will be provided by 88.1 WKNC. Fans can also follow along with live stats from GoPack.com, or Twitter updates from @NCStateBaseball.
