RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State scored 10 unanswered to drop Wake Forest 10-2 on Saturday night at Doak Field at Dail Park, claiming the series behind a shutdown effort from Logan Jernigan and Brad Stone.

The Wolfpack (29-20, 11-15 ACC) fell behind the Deacons (26-24, 12-14) 2-0 in the second, before a four-run third hinging on Brett Austin's two-run shot to right center gave the Pack a 4-2 advantage. State poured on five more in the fourth, and one for insurance in the seventh, to set the final at 10-2.

Logan Ratledge and Preston Palmeiro both matched career highs for hits on the evening. Ratledge went 4-for-5 with a run and an RBI, tying a career high set this season against N.C. A&T. Palmeiro went 3-for-3 with a double, a run, an RBI, and a stolen base to improve to 5-for-7 over the weekend. Austin contributed the go-ahead home run in a 2-for-5 outing with three RBIs and a run.

Trea Turner scored twice in a 1-for-4 effort with a double and a walk. Andrew Knizner drove in a pair and scored twice in a 1-for-5 day with a double and two walks. Garrett Suggs scored twice in a 1-for-4 performance. Jake Fincher went 2-for-4.

Logan Jernigan (6-3) scored the win on five innings of work, fanning six while holding the Deacs to two earned on four hits and three walks. Stone collected his first save of the year in a four-inning effort, shutting out Wake Forest on three hits and three walks with four punchouts.

NC State trailed 2-0 after the second, but kicked it into high gear over the next two innings, hanging nine runs on the board to seal the outcome. Suggs ignited the rally by reaching on a fielding error at short. Turner doubled down the left field line next to put two in scoring position. Ratledge legged out an infield RBI single, and the throw to first went sailing into the stands to tie the game 2-2. Knizner reached on a fielder's choice for the first out, then Austin cranked his two-run shot over the right center fence to make it 4-2.

In the fourth, State removed any doubt after Palmeiro started a five-run rally with his single to center. Suggs singled through the right side after Palmeiro stole second to put runners on the corners. A passed ball moved Suggs into scoring position, and vacated first. Wake Forest elected to intentionally walk Turner to load the bases. Again Ratledge singled to short, and advanced to second on a throwing error, pushing Turner to third and scoring Suggs and Palmeiro. Knizner doubled to left center to plate the next two. Austin drove him in on an RBI single to center, extending the lead to 9-2.

The Pack scored once more in the seventh after Chance Shepard walked and stole second. Fincher singled to move him to third. Palmeiro drove in the run with a missile to right for a sac fly RBI.
