As always, the Banquet will feature the introduction of your 2012 NC State Baseball Team.

Festivities for the First Pitch Banquet will conclude around 8:30 pm giving you ample time to reunite with old friends and watch the Wolfpack defeat Duke in basketball.

On Friday, January 27, NC State unveiled Frank Weedon's surprise inclusion in the 2012 class. Weedon came to NC State in 1960 as the school's sports information director, and spent 50 years in the NC State Department of Athletics, as SID, and Associate Director of Athletics. In his time at NC State, he was one of the Wolfpack's most visible, colorful and respected personalities. His accomplishments were many and his devotion to NC State was boundless.

As SID, Weedon was responsible for developing the Wolfpack Sports Network, the school's radio network for football and men's basketball games, the first of its kind in the region. He also was instrumental in garnering national honors for many NC State athletes, including eight Wolfpack football players who were named first-team All-America during the 1960s.

Weedon moved into administration in 1971 and handled day-by-day departmental duties for Athletics Directors Willis Casey and Jim Valvano. Weedon was instrumental in organizing the first national broadcast of an ACC regular-season basketball game (the 1973 NC State-Maryland game in College Park, Md., on Super Bowl Sunday), which helped land the ACC its first national television contract for men's basketball. Although Weedon officially retired in 1995, he remained a staple of the Department of Athletics for another 15 years, serving as Senior Associate AD emeritus, unofficial historian, and department ambassador.

This year three legendary former players will join Weedon in entering the NC State Baseball Hall of Fame: Woodson (1982-1984), Harvey (1992-1995), and Weber (1995-1998). All three are members of the ACC 50-man 50th Anniversary Team, chosen in 2003. They will join previous Hall of Famers - Coach Sam Esposito, Mike Caldwell, Chris Cammack, Steve Martin, Dan Plesac, Doug Strange, Brian Bark, Tom Sergio, and Turtle Zaun.

The First Pitch Banquet is the traditional kick-off event to the NC State Baseball season. Funds from past banquets have gone toward some tremendous improvements including the creation of the NC State Baseball Hall of Fame area on the concourse at Doak Field at Dail Park.
