No. 16 NC State travels to No. 11 Virginia for a three-game series beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday and concluding with a Monday night showdown at 7 p.m. on ESPNU.
The Wolfpack (16-6, 3-3 ACC) won its series with the Cavaliers (19-2, 4-2) last year, two games to one. The Pack is on the road for the second week in a row after taking a road series at Wake Forest last weekend.
State was once again featured in the national rankings released last Monday. The Wolfpack joined the national rankings on March 12 of last season, and has not left. This week extends the Pack's streak of being ranked in every major poll to more than one year.
The Wolfpack's bullpen lost its first game of the year in an 11-inning midweek loss to UNC Greensboro, but will have to rebound this week in Charlottesville. NC State's 11 bullpen wins are second in the nation behind Mississippi State's 12. Through 22 games, the Pack pen holds an 11-1 record with six saves on seven opportunities, sporting a 2.49 ERA while holding opponents to a .182 batting average.
Radio coverage for the weekend will be provided by 88.1 WKNC. Fans can follow along on Twitter via @NCStateBaseball or with live stats on GoPack.com.
