The victory is the 513th of Wolfpack head coach Elliott Avent’s career, tying him with Sam Esposito as the winningest coach in program history.

Drew Poulk went 3-for-5 with a home run, a triple and three RBIs to pace the NC State offense. The Wolfpack, which won for the fourth time in its last five games,

Austin Harclerode singled to right field with Rice scoring from second when Wolfpack catcher Chris Schaeffer dropped the throw home for an error. Harclerode stole second and Kurt Wertz walked. A double-steal advanced the runners to second and third, and Harclerode scored when Schaeffer’s throw to third bounced for an error.

The Wolfpack tied the score in its half of the second 3-3. Tarran Senay tripled to left and John Gianis grounded out to first to drive in Senay.

NC State retook the lead 4-3 in the bottom of the third. Maynard reached on a error by first baseman Cody Reeves and advanced to second when Ciencin grounded out to third. Riggins singled up the middle to drive in Maynard with the go-ahead run.

Towson second baseman Chris Wychock homered to left off Wolfpack reliever Grant Sasser in the top of the eighth narrowing the Wolfpack lead to 5-4.
