NC State Climbs Back Into Top 10
June 2, 2003
RALEIGH, N.C. - Following its three-game sweep through the NCAA Wilson Regional, NC State has jumped back into the national top 10 in the latest college baseball polls.
The Wolfpack heads to the NCAA super regionals this weekend ranked No. 9 by both Collegiate Baseball and Baseball America. Both publications had NC State at No. 12 a week ago.
Ironically, the team the Wolfpack will play this weekend in the super regional, Miami, is ranked at No. 10. The super regional will be held at Miami's Mark Light Stadium because the Hurricanes are the higher seed in the NCAA Tournament pairings.
Three other ACC schools were in the top 25. Florida State moved back to No. 1 in Baseball America and held at No. 2 in Collegiate Baseball. Georgia Tech, which lost its regional in two games at home, dropped to No. 13 in Collegiate Baseball and to No. 16 in Baseball America. And North Carolina, which won its regional by defeating Mississippi State twice on the Bulldogs' home field in Starkville, Miss., no small feat, moved to No. 18 in Baseball America and No. 19 in Collegiate Baseball.
