NC State's Trea Turner and Brett Austin earned All-America selections on teams released Wednesday by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and Baseball America.
Turner landed on the first team at shortstop for both NCBWA and Baseball America's All-American teams. The junior was selected 13th overall by the San Diego Padres in the 2014 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
The mentions bolster Turner's campaign for the Brooks Wallace Award, recognizing the nation's top shortstop. Turner remains in the running for that award, announced on June 29.
Brett Austin earned the first All-America mention of his career with a third team nod on Baseball America's list. Austin was a fourth-round selection by the Chicago White Sox in this year's draft.
Ahead of this season, Austin was named to Louisville Slugger's third team preseason All-America, but Baseball America's selection grants him the first postseason honor of his career.
