GREENSBORO, N.C. – T.J. Warren set the school record for the most 20-point games in a single season, but the NC State men’s basketball came up short against third-seeded Duke, 75-67, in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament Saturday afternoon at the Greensboro Coliseum.

Warren broke Rodney Monroe’s school record from the 1990-91 season with the most 20-point games in a single-season with 29. With his 21 points in the contest, Warren has scored 20 or more points in 17 consecutive games.

A native of Durham, N.C., Warren led the Pack in scoring with a game-high 21 points, while Lennard Freeman scored a career-high 13 points in the contest on 5-of-6 shooting. Anthony ‘Cat’ Barber was the third State player to score in double figures with 12 points.

Jabari Parker led Duke with 20 points in the game.

Warren, the ACC Player of the Year, kept the Wolfpack in the game in the early portion, as he scored seven of the squad’s first 13 points prior to the second media timeout.

NC State (21-13) took its first lead of the game on a Freeman put-back with 8:41 to go in the opening half. Freeman had a strong first half showing for State, as he totaled eight points.

The two teams continued to play an even opening 20 minutes, as neither squad held a lead greater than three points throughout the final nine minutes of the half.

The Blue Devils took a one-point lead into the halftime locker room, 39-38. Warren led all scorers with 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting, while Parker led Duke in scoring with 11 points.

Duke (26-7) used a 14-4 run over a span of 5:22 in the early portion of the second half to take a 12-point lead.

State would claw to within six points in the final minute of play following a made jump shot by Warren, but the Blue Devils used two made free throws from Rodney Hood to hold on for the eight point victory.

The Wolfpack will await the NCAA Selection Show to be aired on Sunday.
