    Howell Named ACC Player of the Week Howell earns his first ACC Player of the Week nod after helping the Pack to wins over Georgia Tech and an upset of Duke.

    GREENSBORO, N.C. – NC State’s Richard Howell has been named the ACC Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 13.

    Howell helped 20th-ranked NC State improve to 3-0 in the ACC for the first time since the 1988-89 season with a pair of home wins as the Wolfpack handed top-ranked Duke its first loss of the year, 84-76, on Saturday and defeated Georgia Tech, 83-70, last Wednesday.

    For the week, Howell averaged a double-double of 11 points and 15 rebounds. Against the Blue Devils, Howell recorded the 22nd double-double of his career with 18 rebounds, which tied his career-best in conference play and was one shy of his overall career-high, and 16 points on 7-for-12 shooting from the floor. The Marietta, Ga., senior grabbed 14 of his game-high 18 rebounds in the second half, including 12 on the defensive end. Against the Yellow Jackets, Howell again was a force on the boards, registering a game-high 12 rebounds.
