NC State Gets Five Seed In ACC Tournament, Faces Virginia Tech In First Round
March 10, 2013
RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State will meet Virginia Tech at 2 p.m. in the opening round of the 60th ACC Tournament when play begins Thursday at the Greensboro Coliseum.
Under head coach Mark Gottfried's tutelage, the Pack (22-9) finished with an 11-7 mark in league action this year. Those 11 conference wins are the most for State since the 2003-04 season when NC State compiled the same number of conference wins.
This will be the second meeting between NC State and Virginia Tech (13-18, 4-14 ACC) in the ACC Tournament. The first meeting occurred at the 2010 tournament in Tampa during State's run to the title game, with the 12th-seeded Pack posting a 72-64 semifinal upset win over the No.3 Hokies.
NC State defeated Virginia Tech in overtime, 90-86, during the regular season at PNC Arena on Feb. 16. Senior Scott Wood led the Pack with 22 points, hitting six 3-pointers in the game.
The Wolfpack will have a strong contingent of support in Greensboro as NC State fans have purchased all of the school's allotment of tournament tickets. Wolfpack fans needing to pick up their tickets on game day can get them at the box office will-call, located on the plaza of the Greensboro Coliseum. Will-call opens two hours prior to the start of each session.
